Don Smith, Murray Bridge International Photography Club
First The Clouds, Then The Water Came
Previous
Next
I was born in Murray Bridge
I worked in the timber mill for thirty years
I started photography in 1969
I've always liked to record things around me, especially rocks
This is the Mannum waterfall
Last five years you wouldn't have seen any water here
It's a stream that starts up in the Palmer Hills
It is not long, but can get violent and rough
I'm mad on rocks
I don't know why I'm mad on rocks
I've always found the Falls interesting even when there's no water
It's just awesome, great for photography
That's Nancy looking down at the rushing water
These photos are taken just after recent heavy rains in September 2010
The second set of pictures comes from slides in 1992
Christmas 1992, the heaviest rain in a long time
The level of water is massively higher than 2010
It's just awesome hearing the grinding of rocks being pushed downstream
I wonder if we'll ever see so much water ever again
